TRUTH ENOLA
a.k.a. POUNDS MAYOR
BIOGRAPHY
TRUTH ENOLA, is known in the Hip Hop
world for rhythmically fusing hip
hop, R & B, soul as well as the
blues, and most importantly
mastering the art of creating catchy
unforgettable hooks. Truth E-No-La
a.k.a. Pounds Mayor, continues to
break all the rules in the
development of his sophomore album.
POUNDS MAYOR, is pound for pound one
of the most well rounded MC’s since
the birth of hip hop and makes a
lifetime guarantee to “Do It His
Way.” Truth takes no prisoners and
offers no apologies when he calls
out the snakes, frauds, and
backstabbers. Expect BIG but
Honorable events from this man as he
loves the ladies and swaggers as his
own power broker.
His husky sound first wrapped around
listeners with his performance on
“Pony Ride” on De La Soul’s “Stakes
Is High” album. In 1999 Truth
dropped his first single entitled
“May Day” on Maseo’s Bear Mountain
Records. As evidenced by his
discography, since that time Truth
has consistently recorded or been a
featured lyricist on numerous
releases. He has delivered stellar
performances on the Jigmasta’s
critically acclaimed album,
“Infectious”, and on recordings with
Kwest, Prince Paul, Rubix, and Def
Jam Japan’s first rap artist, Dabo.
An experienced artist and performer,
Truth has received the respect and
love of hip hop fans worldwide. He
toured the United States twice with
De La Soul and performed at numerous
international venues including
Brazil, London, Austria, Sweden,
Switzerland and Germany. Truth has
appeared in videos with De La Soul,
Common, the Roots, Will Smith, Tribe
Called Quest and the Jungle
Brothers. He has also performed with
Common, De La Soul, Goodie Mob, The
Roots, Mos Def, A Tribe Called
Quest, Fishbone, 311, George
Clinton, Maseo Parker, Pharcyde,
Yellow Man, Pharoah Monch, KRS-One
and a host of other artists that
respect the streets that gave life
to their careers.
Truth has been featured in XXL, The
Source, Vibe, Rap pages, Elemental
Magazine and on BET. Additional
reviews of his outstanding work may
be found on allhiphop.com,
soundslam.com, prefixmag.com and
ballerstatus.net.
In 2004 he released his debut album
“6 O’Clock Straight”, followed by
“Ten Past 6: An Audio History of
Truth Enola” in 2005. It lyrically
tackled everything from the reality
of gangsta' life and loss, to sexual
escapades, to dysfunctional
relationships. You get love, war,
sex and truth all in one album with
a few moments to just reflect on
self. It was backed with a stellar
list of producers including Celph
Titled, Da Beatminerz, De La Soul,
DJ Spinna, Fusion, Geology, Joe
Blast, The Are, T. “The Beat
Specialist” and Mr. Naso as well as
Yuseff Harris. Featured artists
included De La Soul, Phife Dawg, and
Dragon from his own crew Mad Men
Moss.
Under his alias Pounds Mayor, Truth
will collaboratively release an
interim album with well renowned DJ
Cross Phada. The self titled album,
PMP (Pounds Mayor-Phada), reflects a
return to the hip hop era of the DJ
and MC laced with a whole new sound
that reflects the growth of hip hop
into a genre with global appeal. In
that vein, he has formed his own
company, Red Diamond Global. The
company’s primary mission is to
network artists who are committed to
creating music for the global
marketplace and maintaining artistic
as well as financial control of
their product.
With the introduction of PMP, Truth
a.k.a. Pounds Mayor and Cross Phada
bring the fire to fans across the
globe! ARE YOU READY?!!!
